Age is no Barrier – Meet the Colonel
February 18, 2009
He was 65 years old when he received his first social security check of $99. He was broke, and owned a small house and a beat up car. He made a decision that he has got to change. The only idea he had was a chicken recipe, which his friends liked. With that idea in mind, he took massive action. He left his home in Kentucky and traveled to many states in the US to sell his idea. He told the restaurant owners that he had a chicken recipe that people liked and he was giving it to them for free. What he wanted in return was for the restaurant owners to pay him a small percentage on the pieces of chicken sold. He got rejections after rejections, but did not give up. In fact, he got over 1000 rejections. He got 1009 no’s before he got his first yes.
With that one success Colonel Harland Sanders changed the eating habits of the whole world with Kentucky Fried Chicken.
SUCCESS PRINCIPLES
Age is no barrier to success, and so is capital. What is needed is an idea put into action, followed with proper planning and persistency. How many of us will keep knocking on doors when we have received 1000 rejections? I presume not many! This is why there are not many successes like Colonel Sanders.

| Junior high school students in Chicago were studying the Seven Wonders of the World. At the end of the lesson, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following received the most votes: 1. Egypt’s Great Pyramids While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn’t turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.” The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.” The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the Seven Wonders of the World are: 1. to touch… The room was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop. May this story serve as a gentle reminder to all of us that the things we overlook as simple and ordinary are often the most wonderful – and we don’t have to travel anywhere special to experience them. Enjoy your gifts! This holiday season provides ample opportunity to enjoy your gifts. Merry Christmas! |

Take Time Out Today.
December 18, 2007Let’s take a time out from inspiring ourselves today to have a little fun, send some gratitude and enjoy this holiday season.
First – Let’s say thanks! www.letssaythanks.com
This is a website set and paid by Xerox to send cards of thanks to our troops serving abroad. The cards are custom cards designed by kids around the United States and its easy to select one design, write a message and then send. It’s free and obligatory (my opinion) to say thanks to those who ensure our freedom. Freedom is not free.
Second – Elf Yourself http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1315028397
Many of you may have already seen this but for those who haven’t, this is very cool and comical. Take a picture file of your head, place it on an elf and watch. Really cool.
Third – Thank You RE/MAX Advantage
I am proud of the support afforded to Carol and Karen in the Anthem office with their quest to deliver cookies and other treats to troops abroad. This company is outstanding when it comes to supporting timely causes. Thank you again.
Fourth- For those looking for some online Christmas fun (adult or otherwise) here is a link for a google search delivering 100’s of options to consider.
Have a great night. Be your Best!
